Yes the tank barn is finished. I did a lot more weathering than usual using a range of magazines/books to help. It’s not perfect but it is a step forward. The photos probably make some parts look a bit different to real life eg the rungs are muted in shininess compared to the photo.

A lot of time was spent fixing this with most of the problem being me but at least I had good advice from a friend!

I used a number of layers of oil paints, acrylics and scale model dust as my wife refers to weathering powders. I am happy with the results though there is improvement mostly by doing more layers as per most of the advice I read. 

As usual I relied on advice from my partner to arrive at the final look so it’s more weathered than I would usually do. I find it takes a while as I like to pause between layers to assess the look of it all.

So my modelling area is looking a bit messy now with lots of materials and references strewn around my garage workbench.

Whilst all this was being done I resprayed the Minenraumer. Vallejo’s rattle can German tank yellow is way too green in colour for my taste so back to the Tamiya version.

The spider has sat on the sideline but will be back up soon.

Hard to believe but that’s my fourth finished model for the year.
