BNA Mail order

The following items arrived in the mail today. Sent Monday , arrived Friday. I miss the days of Earl at NKR Models when an order on the Monday would arrive on Tuesday. I think the Devil handled his parcels given how fast they were.
The first item is some pavers from Juweela in 1/35 in grey. The photo shows half the bricks ie it will cover an area 18 x 20 cms. Apologies to any US readers, sorry guys but except for you and a couple of tinpot countries everyone else has switched to the metric system. The pack includes some grey dust for between the pavers. The pavers are mounted on a light paper backing  that allows the surface to be bent eg a dip for a driveway that has been poorly laid and has ruts in it.
The second item is a stony steppe destined for another diorama involving some Aerosans. This is from Mig Jiminez’s latest company ( number 3 ).It looks quite the part in the pack which protects it well.
The big wing is now safely away at about 90% paint grade stage and now I am rearranging the deck chairs on my desk to encourage me to do some airbrushing, hence why it is temporarily neat!

Quick pic

Well WordPress is certainly a pain at the moment, so here’s hoping this picture goes up. I am pretty much at the end  of the PSR cycle though forgetting to do the engines was a major omission on my part. The intakes are certainly big mongrels and have proved difficult to blend in.

Flying wing thing

Firstly let’s quickly mention the Hanomag – don’t model when tired and cranky – enough said. Below is the Flying Wing kit from Aoshima in 1/700 scale, derived from the Anime series Conan the Boy from the Future. Not a great show but nice vehicles like this in it. The kit is quite well engineered unlike Aoshima’s earlier efforts which were dire. The instructions are quite nice as is the moulding. Fit is pretty good , I will need filler, but not too much. It seems to go together quite quickly and there is plenty of detail in the parts despite the alleged scale. This will be Germanified , just can’t help myself.

Lovely job on this kit except  only 2 pads touch the ground instead of the three needed, this is a common mistake  with this kit by people  who have not looked  at any references
It needs a bit of work with a Dremel  on the inner wheel bottom to get all three down.

And lastly what many of us go to see , kits to buy !

The above comic tale of daring do combines Nazi UFO’s  and the Korean  War,  any resemblance  to reality  being purely  coincidental.
Enjoy !

Hanomag work

After finally restarting airbrushing I have done some work on this kit. It is slowly approaching completion. Maybe next weekend. The back wheel fit is a little disappointing and will need some light filling to improve the appearance, probably just white glue. Anyway a quick photo follows.

Melbourne Expo Part 3 – more buying frenzy

Continuing on there are more kits I bought – gotta feed the habit!
From the top left is the RS Models BV Ae607, I may do this as a day fighter as I already have one. The other 2 kits below are manned V2 variants from AV, the quality is only ordinary for these, buildable but not great. Off to the left are 2 sets of Lorin ramjets included as freebies which may have a use some time.

And now one last photo of stuff from my friend.
Firstly from the top is the RS Models BV P163.01, I have already got the .02 version but could never justify the second one’s purchase, in the middle is the Sharkit Me1106 rocket and then the grand prize. Fruitbat Productions were around in the early 90’s. They made 4 kits of which only 2 interest me, the first the Arado E381 is a beautiful kit that I have built for one of John Baxter’s books. The second one is the Heinkel Lerche 2. I did own the cheap Final Touch knock off kit but that was barely buildable and has long ago disappeared onto E-bay. This is a much much better kit and I am looking forward to building it one day.

So you are probably wondering if i bought anything at Expo , well not much.

The photo below is all. The Me 1101 kit at the back is also from my friend. Next up are two Masterbox kits in 1.35. The first is destined for my “girl on a bomb dio giving me enough body parts to cobble together the girl and the second is the zombies for the D9 bulldozer dio.
Off to the right hand side is some tape from Red Roo Models – this is supposed to replace Dynamo tape for rescribing panel lines, a report on this later. I did love their giveaway pen also 🙂
The next post will be photos from Expo.
What you can’t see in these photos is a cleanup and reorganisation of my work area that is going on currently.
