Quick update

I’m now up to the second PSR stage on the main body of the sub after closing it up. I added in a pipe for a little extra detail visible from the open hatch, probably more for my benefit than anyone else. I’ve also started on refining the casting lines on the trailer covers and have already snapped the first one, fit as usual was in part the cause and some hamfistedness on my part.

The trailer with the snapped cover rail at the top.

And a visitor from a while back.

More work has been done on the Biber recently. The kit definitely shows its short run nature in how much fettling is needed. Nothing fits together without work.

The torpedoes being assembled outside on my recycling bin to keep the glue smell down. In the middle is the trailer with the body completed with the superstructure still to be added.
A few friends from a recent walk.
This is a Lightning from the WarThunder computer game. Given its legendary thirst I’m not sure how all this armament would have been carried. Would make an interesting model though. About as realistic as that triple decker turret KV2 !
The torpedo propeller blades AFTER thinning. I thinned as much as I could without breaking them off though I almost did that by mistake. The original thickness was more than a brick thickness.
Progress so far on the second PSR  cycle on the torps.
I’m also selling a few books on EBay and this was the first to go.

It’s been nearly a month since I finished the Wurzberg and I haven’t been entirely idle though various personal stuff has interfered with modelling time although this also includes hot steamy weather.

I’ve started on these two kits in 1.72 from Special Hobby/Special Navy. Both are limited run so need more than the usual amount of fettling. So far things are going well. The sub is nearly ready to close up but the seat and instrument panel both needed trimming.

I am going with doing this as a diorama based on a photo I have from the book Suicide Squads by Richard O’Neil one of my all time favourite military books.

The wheels got a quick spray of Vallejos Desert yellow primer and I’ve started on painting the rubber tires.
